Adventure is Out There

This year for Valentine's Day, I had no idea what to get Patrick.  Since I didn't have anything specific in mind, and I am a stay at home mom, I decided to try to be creative instead of spending money on a gift I didn't really care for.  So, I did what every creative person does these days and I went to pinterest to look for ideas.  The first idea that I came across that interested me, was where someone took a deck of cards and created 52 date nights.  As I researched to see if I could even create 52 dates, I came across someone's "Tangled" date night.  Being the Disney dork that  I am, I of course thought this date night sounded awesome.  After a little more searching, I decided that I could create 52 Disney themed nights.  Most nights, we sit around continually asking what do you want for dinner and what do you want to do tonight?  So, yes this wasn't exactly the most romantic idea, but I thought it would make Patrick really happy to receive 52 pre-planned nights of family fun.

Each card had a Disney movie listed on the front and the back of the card had the planned dinner and at least one activity listed.  I put the cards in a little blue box, wrote Adventure is Out There on it, and tied balloons to it.  This is because I presented this gift through a bonus movie themed day, Up.

I put the present (and balloons) in a basket filled with lunch.  I went in search of the old-fashioned glass bottle grape soda, to tie into the Ellie badge, but they were out of grape soda and honestly that's not really our taste anyway.  So instead, I still got the glass bottles, but they were root beer and cream soda instead of grape.  We laid out a blanket on the floor, had our picnic, and watched the movie Up.

After lunch was finished, (and the movie) we couldn't help but make a "castle" to fly away like the one in the movie.  We all had a great time, and finished by picking our theme for the next week, Beauty and the Beast.

Let me know what you think of this idea, and come back to see what we do next week with Beauty and the Beast.
